At present, the international plasmid and IS reference center is undergoing reorganisation and is not operational.
For those who have not been attributed a block of IS numbers we strongly suggest the use of the first letter of the genus followed by the first two letters of the species and a number. (e.g. ISBce1 for Bacillus cereus).The database should first be interrogated to ensure that the designation has not already been allocated.
Since a number of sequences are always being processed and are not therefore temporarily unavailable in the public database, it is also important to contact us directly when in doubt ( Jacques Mahillon or Mick Chandler ).
