ISVvu3 has been found by screening completely sequenced bacterial genomes for sequences homologous to the IS4 transposase using BLASTP. Multiple alignments revealed a conserved DDE motif : D(N2)-76-D(N3)-103-E(C1). The copy number in Vibrio vulnificus YJ016 is 1 on chromosome II and 7 on chromosome I.
