ISPlc1 has been identified by its integration to the entrapment vector pMAT1 (sacB cassette).
ISPlc1 contains two sequences, 5’-GCTGGTcG-3’ (position 309, 1 mismatch) and 5’-GCTGaTaG-3’ (position 417, 2 mismatch), similar to the Chi sites, which specify the place of action for RecBCD nuclease. As judged from DNA hybridization analysis ISPlc1 is present in 8 copies in P. alcaliphilus JCM 7364.
