ISPam2 has been identified by its transposition to the entrapment vector pEBB10(sacB cassette). ISPam2 carries two sequences 5’-GaTGGTGG-3’ (position 292, 1 mismatch) and 5’-GCTtGTtG-3’ (position 421, 2 mismatch) similar to the Chi sites, which specify the place of action for RecBCD nuclease. ISPam2 is 86% aa identical to ISPpa3. As judged from DNA hybridization analysis ISPam2 is present in 2 copies in P. aminophilus JCM 7686. Homologous sequences were also detected by DNA hybridization in P. alcaliphilus JCM 7364, P. alkenifer DSM 11593, P. pantotrophus DSM 11072, P. pantotrophus DSM 11073, P. pantotrophus LMD 82.5, P. thiocyanatus JCM 20756 and P. versutus UW1, P. yeeii CCUG 46822.
