ISPkr1 is 70% (istA, the transposase) aa identical to ISMex39 and 80% (istB, the helper of transposition) to ISMex39.
ISPkr1 has been identified by its transposition into entrapment vector pCM132TC (promoter-less tetA cassette).
ISPkr1 contains a sequence, 5’-GCTGGTGc-3’ (position 1862, 1 mismatch), similar to the Chi sites, which specify the place of action for RecBCD nuclease. As judged from DNA hybridization analysis ISPaes1 is present in 2 copies in the genome of P. koreensis JCM 21670.
