ISPaes3 has been identified by its transposition into entrapment vector pCM132TC (promoter-less tetA cassette). ISPaes3 is 64% (ORF1) aa identical to IS1354. ISPaes3 contains a sequence, 5’-cCTGGTGt-3’ (position 573, 2 mismatch), similar to the Chi sites, which specify the place of action for RecBCD nuclease. As judged from DNA hybridization analysis ISPaes3 is present in 2 copies in the genome of P. aestuarii DSM 19484. Homologous sequences were also detected by DNA hybridization in P. alcaliphilus JCM 7364, P. homiensis DSM 17862, P. kondratievae NCIMB 13773T, P. solventivorans DSM 11592, P. solventivorans DSM 6637, P. versutus UW 1, P. yeei CCUG 32052, P. yeei CCUG 32053, P. yeei CCUG 46822.
