ISH11 was isolated as spontaneous insertion into the pMPK29 plasmid. The relationship between ISH11 putative transposase and those of the other IS5 family members is apparently complex (possibly due to undetected frameshiftings). However, the closest transposase is that of IS427. Therefore ISH11 has tentatively been grouped within the IS427 cluster of the IS5 family.
Two copies are present in pNRC100 of Halobacterium sp. NRC-1 at coordinates 36765-37832 ; 185557-186624.
