ISH1-8 is present in two copies, in inverted orientation, in the genome of the temperate phage øH1. There is an ambiguity concerning the limits of ISH1-8: we prefer to consider the element starting at position 5 and ending at position 1891, with no DR. This suggestion remains to be confirmed. All coordinates have been modified accordingly. There are three ORFs in ISH1-8. ORF1 (197-589) is distantly related (20 % identity) to that of IS200, ORF2 (1165-1839) is similar (28 % identity) to the C-terminal part of IS1136 or IS891, and ORF3 (725-1252) for which no similarity to other known proteins has been found. ISH1-8 integrity (vs a composite structure of two or more elements) remains to be confirmed since no ISH1-8 actual transposition have been recorded yet.
Comparing to ISNph5, there is an insertion of 48 pb in the left end of the IS.

As this is pointed out in the paper Dyall-Smith, M. et al 2018(see below), resequencing of the prepublished parts of phiH1 at high coverage
uncovered a number of sequence errors, some of which are in transposon ISH1.8. The corrected sequence of that transposon is identical to that of ISH12 from Halobacterium salinarum strain R1 (which in turn is identical to that from Halobacterium salinarum strain NRC-1). Please consider this sequence as the « historical » sequence.
