ISKrh6 was found in the chromosome of the laboratory contaminant Kocuria rhizophila Noodlococcus. Two identical copies of ISKrh6 and a copy that differs by one SNP are present in Noodlococcus.

A copy of ISKrh6 is present at a fourth position in the chromosome of K. rhizophila 28R2A-20, which was isolated from the environment associated with an Atlantic Ocean sponge.
