Comments
ISL1 was found in two virulent derivatives of the 41-kb temperate phage øFSV-B of Lactobacillus casei (Shimizu-Kadota et al., 1985). ISL1 has also been reported in the 68-kb lactose plasmid pLY101 of Lactobacillus casei C257 (Shimizu-Kadota, 1987). ISL1 distribution is apparently restricted to a limited number of Lactobacillus casei strains (3/19) and is absent from 14 other Lactobacillus strains (9 species) and 15 strains of other bacteria (8 genera, 12 species) (Shimizu-Kadota et al., 1988).
