ISPpa3 has been identified by its integration to the entrapment vector pMEC1. ISPpa3 encodes a sequence 5’-GCTGGTGG-3’ (position 421) identical to the Chi sites, which specify the place of action for RecBCD nuclease. ISPpa3 is most similar to ISPpa4 of P. pantotrophus DSM 65 (73 % of identity on nucleotide sequence level). As judged from hybridization analysis ISPpa3 is present in at least 7 copies in P. pantotrophus DSM 11072. One copy was detected in P. pantotrophus LMD 82.5 and P. versutus UW1.
ISPpa3 is 72% aa similar to ISAav2.
